No More Mommy Guilt!

Motherhood is hard, exhausting, confusing and fraught with guilt.  It is also the most important thing we can do as women.  Motherhood has an eternal purpose, God has gifted us with precious souls.  Souls that we will have greater influence on than any other person on this planet.  They watch, they learn, and they come to understand God through our actions and words.

The weight of that responsibility is enough to make one's head spin!  Talk about heaping on the "mommy guilt."  Not only are we responsible for our children's spiritual well being but we're also responsible for their physical well being as well.  I read an article yesterday about the importance of taking prenatal vitamins, and well needless to say it didn't encourage me (considering the fact I hate mine!).

Our brains swim with questions and we feel as though everything we do is inadequate and we're never good enough for those precious little ones who deserve our best.  STOP EVERYTHING!  Stop before you go down the road of worry and guilt and think for a moment about this one fact:

God the creator and sustainer of the universe knew that motherhood would be like this and he promises to equip us with the knowledge and wisdom that we need.
Our God PROMISES to give us the wisdom and knowledge we need, he knew this wouldn't be easy!
If we are seeking God, if we are acknowledging him in everything we do, if we are asking him for wisdom and knowledge, it is HE the creator of the very ground we walk on who is directing our every step!

There is no room for mommy guilt or discouragement when we allow God to direct us, the fact of the matter is though our flesh so desperately desires to deny the workings of God in our life.  Not the mention the fact we also have an enemy who desperately wants us to forget God's promises and get caught up in the miry pits of sinful worry.

Take a moment today and everyday, breathe his promises, speak them.  Allow them to fill your heart with joy and hope.  Allow God's word's of encouragement to fill your life, leave no room for the discouragement of the flesh.

"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye."
Psalm 32:8

"With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding." Job 12:13

"The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple." Psalm 119:130

"For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit." Ecclesiastes 2:26

"And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them." Isaiah 42:16

  1. Kasey, thank you so much for linking this up at Unwasted Homemaking Party. What encouraging words. It's very easy to feel overwhelmed with motherhood but, it's so sanctifying, purifying us from lots of our selfishness {at least in my case}.
