"Be a Man!!!" the coach yells, but does anyone ever stop to tell the 13 year old boy how to be a man? That's the question William Bennett posed earlier this week on Focus on the Family, and his book The Book of Man (which I got for free from booksneeze.com, I heart this program ) answers this question clearly.
Ask any man today what it means to "be a man" and most have a hard time verbalizing what true masculinity is, even if they are a "true man" themselves. This book is a behemoth of resources that can be read cover to cover, or piece meal. It truly is a fabulous resource of anecdotes letters, poems, historical accounts, legends, and more celebrating true masculinity (insert Tim Allen Tool Time grunt here).
I can't wait to share some of these accounts with my son and daughters when they're older to show them what true men look like. It takes a man to train men, and this celebration of histories of these true men is a must for everyone's library.
I invite you to Subscribe or Like Lessons From Ivy on Facebook, so you don't miss a post.
Blessings!
