Finding Praises With a Heavy Heart

When the heart is heavy, when no words can be found, a hymn sometimes provides solace and peace that our own emptiness cannot. There will be times that we cannot find the words within our own spirit to praise God, but we can still sing the sweet praises that others have shared in the forms of hymns. No Christian remains on the mountain top from the moment they are saved until the moment they are taken home. There will be times of great joy and there will be times of great sorrow. I praise God for the hymns that I can sing when my heart is too heavy to find praises on it's own.

’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
And to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, “Thus says the Lord!”

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.

I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more

  1. That is one of my faovirte hymns... we sang it often at my home church as a child. It still brings me great comfort to read the words.

    Thank you.
