Asking for Help

I was in my daughters' bedroom last night and my toddler comes running pell-mell from the other side of the house.

"Geh Woof-Woof! Geh Woof Woof!"

Her precious beanie baby woof-woof she had been playing with all day had become wedged in the arms of the stacked chairs I had in my dining room yet to be put away from Christmas. Ivy knew the situation was one she couldn't fix on her own so she turned to me for help.  What amazed me was she wasn't upset when she ran to get me, she knew I could fix the problem and get her friend unstuck.  I did, and she continued to play with him for the rest of the night.

We have 2 options whenever we are stuck in a problem that we can't handle on our own. (which quite frankly is most problems) The first option is get frustrated and mad as we try to change our situation.  The second option is ask God for His help and trust in the outcome that he has planned.  My desire for 2011 is to trust in God and depend on him more, so I don't wind up like a frustrated toddler trying to get a woof-woof unstuck from a hopelessly precarious position.

  1. What a precious lesson to learn from your daughter. Trusting our problems to One who can solve them is vital.

  7. Great advice... I've had to learn this a ton in the past 6 months due to being in the middle of adopting 2 precious little ones! Things seem to rarely go as planned in the adopting process.
