To Be in the 1%

Oh to be in the 1%. What would I do if I were so elite.

I’d love it if 30% of my income didn’t go towards health insurance.

I’d love to have an i-Phone.

I’d love to have cable.

I’d love to be able to buy my children new things whenever I felt like it.

I’d love to own a real Coco Channel Dress, with killer shoes.

I’d love to take my family on a Disney world vacation, then finish off the trip in Europe.

I’d love to own a car that was less that 5 years old, (and dare I say it?) perhaps a new one.

I’d love to go to a spa and receive every beauty treatment available.

I’d love to be able to eat out whenever I wanted, forget that a personal chef.

I’d love to be able to afford a gym membership, or an at home gym, forget that a personal trainer.

As it is my children always have three meals a day with plenty (probably too many) snacks. We have a huge supply of videos for their every whim. We have clothes, nice clothes (again probably too many). We have health insurance, yes it’s expensive but we can afford it. We have good running well maintained vehicles. We have access to clean water. In fact we’re better off than most of this world.

And not only that my children are blessed to grow up somewhere, where they can know about Christ’s love, study His Word. They don’t go to bed hearing warfare outside their window.

Maybe I’m in the 1% afterall.

  1. Great post, K.M. Really good stuff. Have you ever watched one of the many videos or articles called "If the World Were a Village of 100"? They are pretty eye opening and I think we are in the top 1%. A woman wrote a devotion on my WOW blog and we added the video if you want to take a look here: http://wow-xroads.blogspot.hu/2012/06/do-you-know-this-secret-by-janey-goude.html
    Bless you,

  2. Yes we are SO blessed aren't we? So much more than we even realize. I love 1 Tim 6:17-19 for wisdom on "being rich" :)
